How is Breathedge 2 Chapter 1 structured?
Early Access ships one story chapter — the Man and his suit AI, working outward from a railway suburb officially called Outskirts. The verified quest chain runs three phases:
| Phase | Area | Objective chain |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Station Outskirts | Repair the crashed train → stabilise food and water → restore communications (Three Antennas) → obtain New Coordinates |
| 2 | DEPOT (frozen zone) | Cold Protection 100 → Raise Ambient Temperature to 100% via Service Warmers → Foreman and Small Engine research |
| 3 | The jammer trail | Three jamming readings → infiltrate the jammer facility → Retrieve the Jammer → activate it |
Budget 8–10 hours on a direct run (community figure, launch build). Survival loops — oxygen, food, materials — are covered in the beginner guide; this page stays on quest order. Everything below is verified against the 2026-08-31 build and uses in-game English quest names so you can match your log.
How do you restore power to the train in the Outskirts?
The chapter opens with a dead train, and the wardrobe and crafting setups you will lean on all chapter hang off getting it powered:
- Follow Babe’s orange cable. The cable physically leads from the train to the External Module — walk it rather than guessing.
- Install the battery in the External Module.
- Board the train and raise the pantograph. The first big confusion point: reviews describe players asking streamers how the pantograph even works. Look for the interaction on the train’s own equipment once the battery is in.
With power back, stabilise food and water before pushing further — consumption on Standard difficulty is among the most complained-about mechanics in early reviews. If oxygen is what keeps killing you mid-task, refill methods are on the oxygen locations page.
How do you complete the Three Antennas chain?
With the train running, the communication chain starts from the interphone and becomes the Three Antennas objective — a broken antenna, a beacon you build yourself, and an old government probe — with Collect Antenna Debris (0/2) along the way:
| Antenna line | Approach |
|---|---|
| Broken antenna | Salvage it for debris |
| Homemade beacon | Build it from scratch — the exact components were not pinned down in launch-week verification |
| Old government probe | Locate and raise it |
Finish the set with two antenna debris and the chain resolves into New Coordinates — the lead pointing to the DEPOT. For what sits where, use the all-locations map page.
How do you raise the Depot temperature to 100%?
The DEPOT is a frozen zone, and it gates you twice:
Gate 1 — Cold Protection 100. The objective Raise Cold Protection to 100 is satisfied at the train’s Space Suit wardrobe: Protective parts into torso, arm and leg slots. A community-tested 106-point set uses a Knitted Teddy Bear chest piece (+34), Foam on both arms (+22 each) and Cardboard on both legs (+14 each). You can fly into the frozen zone under-equipped — quests simply will not progress there, by design. The full build is in the cold protection guide.
Gate 2 — Raise Ambient Temperature to 100%. Fix the Service Warmers around the Depot one by one. The meter climbs in set steps — verified playthrough: 17 → 34 → 61 → 78 → 100% — so a stuck percentage means a warmer you have not reached, not a broken quest.
Two more threads appear in the Depot: the Foreman and a Small Engine research node whose prerequisites and output nobody had documented at the launch-week cutoff — needs confirmation on a later EA build.
How do you complete the Signal Jammer chain?
The coordinates are jammed, so phase 3 is a three-step hunt:
- Take three jamming readings. Three separate measurement points triangulate the source. This is the chapter’s biggest “where do I even go” moment.
- Infiltrate the jammer facility. The path in involves the shuttle and an alkaline-solution step; the dedicated signal jammer guide breaks that sub-chain down, since alkaline sourcing details are still thin on confirmed week-one data.
- Retrieve the Jammer and carry it to the final activation point. When the circular readout turns green, finish it with the crowbar — the same early tool you should have crafted in hour one.
What are the common Chapter 1 stall points?
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Train has no power | Battery not in External Module, or pantograph not raised | Re-walk Babe’s orange cable; interact with the train-side equipment |
| Quests freeze inside the frozen zone | Cold Protection below 100 | Return to the wardrobe; the zone is enterable but quest-dead |
| Temperature stuck below 100% | Service Warmers remaining | Clear them one by one; steps of 17/34/61/78 are normal |
| Can’t find Wires / Electrical Tape for the oxygen station | Tape hides on wrapped pipes; wires are not lying around | See the Wires page and the materials hub |
| Out of oxygen mid-quest | Ice all refined into water | Ice feeds oxygen terminals too — keep a reserve |
| Stutter when opening inventory | Launch-build bug: ~5 FPS for about 5 seconds | Known as of build 2026-08-31; report in-game (Esc → Report Bug) and wait for a patch |
What can you do after the chapter’s story content stops?
Without spoiling anything: Early Access is one chapter of an officially 16–20-month story plan, so when current content ends you keep the same save for free roaming — clearing remaining blueprint locations, collectibles, and Outskirts or Depot threads you skipped. Roadmap update one adds personal vehicles, a new area and the next story section.

Expand: the ending of Early Access chapter 1
Activating the jammer clears the interference and delivers the chapter’s closing directive:
“Find Mary.
779014-EE5”
Immediately after, a betrayal scene plays, and the game breaks the fourth wall with “Thanks for playing Early Access!” — content stops there. The verifying playthrough confirms no hidden extra main-quest content past the message: the same save reopens for free roaming, and the next story beat waits on update phase 1 (personal vehicles, new area, new NPC, next story section). The chapter’s final act is a setup — coordinates, not a destination. Mary is the thread the full story is built on.
Last verified 2026-09-01 against the Early Access build released 2026-08-31. Quest flow follows a complete community playthrough of that build; values, steps and bug behaviour may change with patches.
