Breathedge 2 Resource Locations: Where to Find Every Material

Where to find Metal, Aluminum, Plastic, Tape, Wiring, Titanium, Rubber, and Oxyworms in Breathedge 2 EA — node looks and the tool each one needs.

FAQ

What is the hardest early resource to find in Breathedge 2?
Plastic. It appears as small bubbly black nodes glued to the outside of man-made station structures, not in loot boxes. New players hunt Metal and Ice first, then stall on recipes that need Plastic because they never learned to scan hull exteriors with the Scrap Tool.
Which tool do I need for Aluminum in Breathedge 2?
The Drill Tool. Aluminum spawns as ore veins on the sides of rock asteroids — ice asteroids do not spawn it. You cannot harvest Aluminum with the starting Scrap Tool; craft or upgrade to a drill module first.
How many Titanium do I need for the Backpack Upgrade?
Four Titanium. The spiky floating ore balls appear in mid-chapter space; mine them with your impact or drill module. The Backpack Upgrade is one of the first capacity gates, so budget four Titanium before flying deep into Outskirts.
What do live Oxyworms do besides crafting Purified Oxygen?
A live Oxyworm placed in your backpack restores oxygen in an emergency, but the refill carries contamination. At a workbench, 2 Oxyworm + 1 Metal + 1 Ice crafts Purified Oxygen, which restores 120 oxygen cleanly — see the oxygen guide for trip planning.
Where does Electrical Tape spawn compared to Wiring?
Electrical Tape wraps around exterior pipes on station structures — cut it with the Cutter Tool. Wiring sits inside electrical boxes and also requires the Cutter. Neither drops from generic scrap piles; both are environmental nodes players walk past.

Crafting stalls in Breathedge 2 when you know the recipe but not the silhouette. Metal is obvious; Plastic is not. Aluminum looks like asteroid decoration until you have a drill. This guide maps all eight core harvest materials confirmed in the Early Access launch build (verified 2026-09-12 against gameplay reference BEv7OJq569Q), what each node looks like in space, and which DIY tool action collects it.

Which tool harvests which resource?

Three tool families cover every material on this page. Upgrade modules on the workbench, but the interaction stays the same.

For recipe costs that consume these materials, see crafting recipes. For the wider item index, see materials: where to find everything.

Where to find Metal

A large round Metal deposit floating in open space in Breathedge 2, ready to be struck with the Scrap Tool.

Metal is the baseline ore. Large circular chunks drift in open space around the train, Outskirts platforms, and the debris field toward the DEPOT route. Hit them with the Scrap Tool — the crowbar-class impact module you prototype from 2 Metal at the start.

Stock Metal early and often. Public Oxygen Station repair, first tool upgrades, and Purified Oxygen all tax the same floating piles. If a recipe suddenly demands Refined Metal, remember that 4 Metal converts to 1 Refined Metal at the workbench per the crafting guide.

The dedicated Metal item page has the full spending list — every confirmed recipe that taxes metal.

Where to find Aluminum

An Aluminum ore vein embedded in the side of a rock asteroid in Breathedge 2, requiring the Drill Tool to extract.

Aluminum does not float loose like Metal. Pale ore veins embed in the sides of rock asteroids — not ice asteroids. Equip the Drill Tool, fly close, and mine the vein until it breaks apart into inventory.

The first reliable rock clusters sit along routes out of Station Outskirts. Aluminum gates drill upgrades and several mid-chapter repairs; the dedicated Aluminum page lists confirmed spend sinks once you start collecting.

Where to find Plastic

A bubbly black Plastic node attached to the outer hull of a space station structure in Breathedge 2.

Plastic is the silent progression killer. It spawns as bubbly-shaped black nodes stuck to the exterior of man-made station pieces — antenna mounts, broken platform segments, train-adjacent hull panels. Use the Scrap Tool to knock them off.

Players who only loot interiors finish the train repair then wonder why a workstation recipe still shows red. Circle every human-built structure you pass during chapter 1 walkthrough objectives and scrape the outside skin before moving on.

The dedicated Plastic item page has close-ups of the node and the full harvest loop.

Where to find Electrical Tape

Electrical Tape wrapped around an exterior pipe on a Breathedge 2 station module, harvested with the Cutter Tool.

Electrical Tape appears as tape wound around exterior pipes on station architecture. Switch to the Cutter Tool and slice the wrap — it drops as a craft item, not as generic scrap.

You need three rolls for the Public Oxygen Station repair alone (3 Metal + 2 Electronics + 1 Wire + 3 Electrical Tape). That repair is covered in the oxygen locations guide; grab every taped pipe run you see while wiring the train for power.

The dedicated Electrical Tape item page has the pipe-run spotting guide and the oxygen-station math.

Where to find Wiring

The interior of an electrical box in Breathedge 2 showing Wiring bundles that must be cut out with the Cutter Tool.

Wiring lives inside electrical boxes mounted on station walls and cable runs. Open or approach the box, then cut the wire bundle with the Cutter Tool — same module as tape, different node.

One Wire satisfies early oxygen-station repair; later comms and antenna chains ask for more. The Wire item page documents confirmed pulls if you want a checklist while backtracking Outskirts.

Where to find Titanium

A spiky ball-shaped Titanium ore floating in space in Breathedge 2, distinct from the flat Metal spheres.

Titanium shows up mid-chapter as small spiky balls drifting in space — not the smooth Metal spheres. Mine them with your impact or drill module once unlocked.

Budget 4 Titanium for the Backpack Upgrade before long loot runs. Extra capacity pays for itself when you are triple-stacking Ice, worms, and Electronics for suit upgrades. More Titanium spend tables live on the Titanium item page.

Where to find Rubber

Rubber material embedded inside a man-made floor panel beneath an early ice layer in Breathedge 2, cut out with the Cutter Tool.

Rubber hides inside man-made floor panels, often under the thin ice crust on early station floors. Fly low along platform decking, spot the rubber inset, and cut it free.

Rubber gates protective DIY modules and several suit recipes. If cold protection crafting looks blocked despite enough Metal, check whether Rubber never entered your inventory — floor nodes are easy to miss while staring at ceiling objectives.

Where to find Oxyworms

A live Oxyworm being captured near an Oxyworm Nest in Breathedge 2 before placing it into the backpack inventory.

Oxyworms are live creatures, not ore. Approach worms near an Oxyworm Nest, grab them intact, and stow them in your backpack.

Two uses matter in chapter 1:

  • Emergency oxygen — using a live worm refills air but applies contamination; save for true emergencies.
  • Purified Oxygen crafting — at a workbench, 2 Oxyworm + 1 Metal + 1 Ice → Purified Oxygen (120 oxygen).

Nest locations and refill math are on the oxygen locations guide. Oxyworms also feed the Oxyworm Collector achievement (300 total) if you are hunting Steam achievements alongside materials.

Quick farming route for chapter 1

A efficient first loop while Outskirts objectives are active:

  1. Train exterior — Metal chunks + Plastic bubbles + taped pipes.
  2. Platform floors — Rubber panels under ice.
  3. Comms/antenna arc — electrical boxes for Wiring, more Plastic on hull plates.
  4. Rock asteroid belt — Aluminum veins once Drill is online.
  5. Deeper drift fields — Titanium spiky balls after Backpack planning.

Pair this loop with the map and locations index so you know which platform corresponds to which quest flag — backtracking hurts when oxygen is the timer.
