FAQ

How many recipes are there in Breathedge 2?
As of the 2026-08-31 Early Access launch, seven crafting or repair formulas are backed by player measurements or official examples: the 2 Metal first tool, 4 Metal into 1 Refined Metal, the Backpack at 4 Titanium, Purified Oxygen, the Public Oxygen Station repair, kettle water purification, and Protective module suit builds. The full armor, weapon and tool-upgrade tree is not published yet, so nobody can give a real recipe count.
Do I need a Scanner to unlock recipes in Breathedge 2?
Unconfirmed. The official Early Access description only says you learn new blueprints, and the 2026-04-03 developer post explains that hand-holding objective markers were removed, so you find unlock sources yourself. The Scanner and Processor from the first Breathedge game are not verified for this build.
Do crafted items break in Breathedge 2?
Basic tools do not. The developers state that base tools stay intact and eternal: durability lives in the DIY modules you install. A broken module wears out, with part of its raw materials recoverable, and undamaged modules can be moved between tools but never duplicated.
Can I use recipe lists from the Breathedge 2 demo?
No. The developers said the 2025 Next Fest demo was thrown out and rebuilt from scratch, and repeated in June 2026 that almost nothing from it is staying. Demo-era recipe numbers should be treated as invalid until re-measured on the live build.

How does crafting work in Breathedge 2?

The official 2026-04-03 DIY deep-dive reframes the question: there is no flat list of item recipes you tap through. Crafting splits into two layers.

  1. Material layer — basic tools are prototyped straight from raw materials. The crowbar is the official first-DIY-prototype example, and you start with a free toolbox plus your own garage, so no blueprint hunt blocks your opening hour.
  2. Module layer — the real progression. Advanced upgrades need dedicated workstations, and anything stronger than a hand-carved prototype is built by producing DIY modules and installing them. Seven categories exist, each with rarity and quality tiers.

Which Breathedge 2 recipes are confirmed in Early Access?

Only formulas with an official statement or a live-play measurement behind them; the rest are in the unconfirmed section.

What are the seven DIY module types?

These are the categories named in the official DIY breakdown, each with rarity and quality tiers.

ProtectiveSuit torso / arm / leg slots with separate cold, heat and radiation ratings; also a kettle water filterSet bonus thresholds, module wear values

Which materials feed the recipes?

Materials hang off interactive objects rather than floating as ore markers, so recognizing the object matters more than memorizing a list. Spots are in the materials where to find hub; the table maps each confirmed material to the recipes above.

Harvesting is verb-driven — Break, Cut, Unscrew, Pull, Drill — and the matching verb is faster and cheaper on module wear than smashing everything.

What should you craft first?

The chapter-1 order that holds up on the launch build:

  1. A first tool at 2 Metal — unlocks container and panel smashing, which is where most early materials live.
  2. Purified Oxygen once Oxyworms appear — 2 Oxyworm + 1 Metal + 1 Ice for roughly 120 oxygen, against a starting suit capacity of about 600. More options are on the oxygen locations page.
  3. Backpack at 4 Titanium — +75 carry in a single craft, and Titanium only comes off spiked nodes, so bank it instead of spending it elsewhere.
  4. Protective module suit fill for the 100 Cold Protection gate — being able to fly into the cold zone is not the same as the quest accepting you there.
  5. Public Oxygen Station repair if you keep dying outside — 3 Metal + 2 Electronics + 1 Wire + 3 Electrical Tape buys a permanent refill point.

Electronics is the usual bottleneck: players report it feeling scarce early, and Electrical Tape hides in plain sight on taped pipes. For the wider order of operations see the beginner guide and the chapter 1 walkthrough.

Do crafted items break in Breathedge 2?

Official rule: base tools stay intact and eternal. Durability attaches to the DIY modules you install, so the module is the consumable, not the tool. Broken modules return part of their raw materials; intact ones can be pulled and reinstalled on another tool — but never cloned. Some player summaries claim item wear was removed entirely, which is only the first half of the sentence. Suit armor degrades the same way and has to be re-stuffed when it fails.

Which recipes are still unconfirmed?

There is no published structured recipe list for the launch chapter: 48 hours after release nobody has produced a verified full table, and the first game’s recipe lists do not transfer. These stay open on purpose rather than guessed at:

  • Weapon and armor recipes beyond Protective filler
  • The full tool upgrade tree, including what each workstation tier needs
  • Thruster and oxygen-tank capacity upgrade formulas
  • Small Engine research at the Depot — the node exists, its inputs and output do not
  • Any recipe using Aluminum, Plastic, Rubber or Light Bulbs
  • Whether Refined Metal chains further into a third metal tier

Do you need blueprints to craft?

Separate question, separate answer. The official description says you learn new blueprints, and the 2026-04-03 post confirms unlock sources are no longer marked for you — you observe the environment and find them. Where those objects sit is covered in the blueprint locations list, and the Scanner blueprint question is answered honestly there: scanning as an unlock mechanic comes from the first game and is unverified in this build.
